Sheila Golden From Florida

Sheila grew up in the New York area, and was painting by the time she started grade school. Her love of nature, flowers, color and animals has been reflected in her art, which ranges from floral to landscapes, watercolor to acrylic. She first studied painting in Provincetown, MA, with painter Morris Davidson and began showing her work in New York City in a Sixth Avenue Greenwich Village Gallery. After a successful career as a graphic designer and illustrator, she began painting more of the time and received a BA degree in Fine Art from Sonoma State University in Northern California. Her work has been published in print and in film, having done backgrounds for Sesame Street Television and KQED Public Television. She has received ribbons at numerous festivals, and Sheila's collage art was included in a Calendar of Women Artists. Her paintings have been exhibited in galleries in Santa Fe, NM. and she has shown her collages at the Vorpal Gallery in San Francisco as well as in galleries in New York City. Sheila's watercolor paintings and collages are part of the permanent collection of the Museum of Art and Whimsy in Sarasota, Florida. She lives and paints in Southwest Florida, where her studio cat, Tibby, has been known to comment on her work.
